Won't you be our neighbor?

St. Edmund’s Academy is proudly located in the heart of Squirrel Hill in the East End of Pittsburgh, PA. Once the home of Mr. Rogers, the diversity of the Squirrel Hill neighborhood reminds us that it is always a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Exploring Squirrel Hill, visitors will find vibrant Jewish and Asian American communities, a welcoming home to refugees, and access to shopping, dining, and great city parks.

Pittsburgh’s finest universities, hospitals, museums, and conservatories are nearby, and we enjoy relationships with these institutions and others to enhance our students’ experiences. Through our Signature Experience Program, we are fortunate to partner with The Children’s Institute Day School, Chatham University, and Phipps Conservatory, among other non-profits that call our neighborhood home.

Our Facilities

In our historic, original school building, you’ll find three levels of classrooms, connected by two skywalks, filled with students moving between classes, holding doors for each other as they go. The heart of this space are the Hillman Auditorium and Mudge Library, where students are found performing, presenting, researching, and collaborating.

Two outdoor athletic fields and our playdeck make the most of our urban location and provide a forum for students’ physical activity and fun. Complimented by two outdoor classrooms and a hands-on learning garden supported by funding from the Whole Kids Foundation and Phipps Conservatory, these spaces ensure our students can enjoy learning and playing beyond their classroom walls.

Our Expansion

In the fall of 2019, St. Edmund’s Academy celebrated the Grand Opening of the Center for Integrated Discovery, a 7,680 square foot expansion that houses new classrooms for physical education, visual and performing arts, and engineering & design. Our upgraded gymnasium can be seen from the Wolf Den, a student collaboration lounge that inspires project work and sits adjacent to the hub of our Signature Experience Program and our Digital Media Lab.

As we prepare students with the skills and experiences critical for a 21st century world, our space serves as a tool to celebrate academic exploration and community enrichment and supports our mission. Beyond these amenities, however, our community firmly believes that the greatest value of our campus lies in the people who call it home on a daily basis: our teachers, our students, our families, and our staff & administration.
